“Facettenreich 3” is the motto of the exhibition and selection of works by Prof. Dr. h.c. Wolfgang Kleinschmidt, which takes place in the Alsfeld Museum Barn.

Bettina Köhler from Alsfeld-Leusel, Kleinschmidt’s long-time art collector and patron, will present his early and late works to art enthusiasts in the Alsfeld museum and also offer them for sale. In keeping with his works, the chemist and artist Hans Schomakers from Fulda will be exhibiting his sculptures.

The painter, graphic artist and writer Kleinschmidt was born in Stettin in 1933, grew up in Fritzlar, studied at the Royal Academy in Stockholm, in Florence and at the Werkkunstschule in Kassel after his Abitur. He has his own visual language, his pictures have a high recognition value. Kleinschmidt is a jack-of-all-trades in art, cosmopolitan, and has exhibited his works in internationally renowned museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Galerie de Espanade, Paris, Muzeum Techniki, Warsaw. He was awarded the Premio Italia in Parma for one of his works and the Nikolaus Lenau Prize for his poetry.

Until 2002, Kleinschmidt regularly took part in Documenta projects, including a project with Beuys, On Kawara and Tania Brugueras. Kleinschmidt received several awards for this.

On 27 May 2018, the artist passed away in Fritzlar at the age of 85.
