Alsfeld like a fairy tale!Alsfeld is a founding member of the German Fairy Tale Route e.V.

Alsfeld and the world of fairy tales. There are many references here. No less than the Brothers Grimm are said to have been inspired by the red hoods of the Schwalm costume for their “Little Red Riding Hood”. The color signals that the wearer is still unmarried. There are many such pieces in the collection of the town museum. It is therefore no wonder that Alsfeld was one of the founding members of the German Fairy Tale Route in 1975 – a vacation route that runs from Hanau to Bremen, linking the stations in the lives of the Brothers Grimm and places that have references to their fairy tales.

Alsfeld also hosts the annual Herb and Fairy Tale Day. Herb women, gardeners and artisans as well as free fairy tale performances by the market play group characterize the town on this day.

A real highlight for fairy tale lovers is the Alsfeld Fairy Tale House, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the town museum. In the half-timbered house, different fairy tales are re-enacted and vividly told in individual rooms. In addition, the fairy tale house houses an important collection of doll’s houses. In the Hexenstubb, visitors are also introduced to the mysterious world of witches and herbs. Thematic guided tours round off the offer. The colorful world of fairy tales is alive and well in Alsfeld. CCDG
